Buy Now, Pay Later on any store

Joe is a direct-to-consumer Buy Now, Pay Later app built for the European market. In Europe, only 15% of e-commerce sites offer BNPL, so most consumers have no easy way to pay in instalments. Joe solved this with a virtual card that lets users buy now and pay later on any store, without the merchant integrating anything. Users could also get refunded on a purchase they had already made and repay it in 3 instalments. As founding engineer, Alassane built the backend, the mobile app and the frontend from scratch. Joe reached 200,000 users and was acquired for €6M two years after launch.
